Blood, a liquid life and key of life.

What is Blood
Blood is a key of life. Unfortunately blood donation in Pakistan is very uncommon only 10 percent of Pakistani people are blood donor in Pakistan who dare to donate blood and blood donation in Azad Jammu & Kashmir is fewer. There are several reasons and myths behind this e.g people are scary to donate blood, people think that blood can be manufactured, people thinks they will feel weeker , perhaps blood donation is time consuming. But the facts are totally opposite there is no need to worry about, blood can't be manufactured on scalable level, blood donation is a health process, blood donation burns calories, blood donor receives free medical check up, blood donation reduces the risk of cancer and many more.

Blood is a liquid life which circulates the required protien and oxygen to human body. Every person should have a specific amount of blood in his/her body. Amount of blood varies in mans, women's and children's body. It is possible that an overweight or healthier person could have less amount of blood then a normal person. A person could have up to 4.5 to 5.5 litre blood if the person is having 68 to 80 kg of weight. There is another necessary thing to be considered for better health which HB (Hemoglobine). HB should also be in normal range for better health and normal range in mans is 13.5 to 17.5 and 12.5 to 15.5 grams per decilitre in woman's.

World Blood Donor Day
WBDD was organized first time in 2004 and now on 14th June of every year commemorated as Wold Blood Donor Day. 14th June is the birthday of great scientist and Nobel Prize holder Karl Landsteiner who invented the ABO blood system. WBDD was also marked as official Global Public Health campaign by the World Health Organization. There are other 7 days which was marked as Global Public Health campaign World Hepatitis Day, World Tuberculosis Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Health Day, World Malaria Day, World AIDS Day and World Immunization Week. In 2017 112.5 million blood donation were collected according to World Health Organization. Where around 50% of donations were from high-income countries.

Why We Need Blood Transfusion
Thee are many reasons of blood transfusion in our daily life.

  • Blood transfusion is need for pregnant women's fighting for life due to complications.
  • Peoples are in trouble due to severe trauma following disasters.
  • Blood transfusion is necessary for cancer patients.
  • Blood transfusion is necessary for complex medical procedures.
  • Blood transfusion is needed for many diseases e.g Anemia, Sickle cell disease, Thalassemia , Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Blood disorder, Lymphoma and many other diseases out there.

Thalassenia is a disease with blood disorder which causes to form abnormal form of HB. Hemoglobin carries the oxygen in blood red cells. This causes the destruction of red blood cells which is symtom of Anemia. Anemia is low count of red cells in humans blood. So there is a need to encourage blood donors in Pakistan to make blood donation in Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Where to Donate?
There are many ways for blood donation in Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Government hospital, Blood donation centers, Blood donation campaigns organized by registered organizations, to Thalassemia patients.
